Panasonic NC-EH30PC 3-Quart Electric Thermo Pot Review

Panasonic NC-EH30PC 3-Quart Electric Thermo Pot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
Nice and simple pot. Has six hour timer, however, would like to have a longer delay for the day use. Also, when using the timer, it always resets the final temperature to 190 degree. Would be nice if it can "remember" the previous temperature setting. The inner container is coated with floury charcoal, not teflon coating that any other brands offer. It claims to bring out the fine taste of water. To me, at least it looks better than the grey teflon coating. Another feature missing is it does not come with the audible alarm.
Extra spec that I would like to know before ordering:
Power: 700 Watt
Temp setting: 140, 180, 190, 208
No audible alarm for any events.
After all, I am happy with the pot for the price and the build quality. Not sure if I would pay extra $30+ for the fancy features Zojirushi brand offers.

I bought this one from San Fransisco in Chinese store and it did not work so I returned it . The new one worked one time and now it will not stop until all water from dispenser will steamed out. I check instruction book and has no mention of Company name, Phone number and product made in china or anything. Don't know who to complain.
I bought in San Fransisco and moved to L.A. So I can not return it.. Wasted my $45.
I would not recommend this product.

Tiger PDHB22U Hot Water Dispenser Kettle w/ 2.3 Quart Capacity Review

Tiger PDHB22U Hot Water Dispenser Kettle w/ 2.3 Quart Capacity
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
This is the exact same model my husband and I owned in Japan (except the buttons are in English). We love it! We are big tea drinkers, and it's great to have hot water ready all the time. I like the size of the 2.3 quart model...it makes plenty of water for the 2 of us, even if we are making instant noodles, and yet it doesn't take up too much room on the counter. It takes about 15-20 minutes to heat up cold water, but with the 6 hour delay function, this is no problem. It only takes a minute or two to reheat already warm water. This water heater is extremely easy to use, and has many great and well-laid out functions. It is very comparable to the Zojirushi CD-LCC30 Micom 3.0-Liter Electric Dispensing Pot...it has similar features and reliability, but a good bit less expensive. We love this product and highly recommend it!!!

Perk-O PK107SS 5.5 Quart Hotpot Review

Perk-O PK107SS 5.5 Quart Hotpot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I've owned several hot water pumps, and this is the best of them all.
The stainless steel interior allows me to keep hot water in the pot all week long, without the concerns that I would have if it were aluminum, while the stainless steel exterior is easy to keep clean and looks good in my kitchen.
Unlike my previous hot water pumps, this unit brings the water to a full boil before it switches to "keep warm" mode. This provides hotter water than the others did, and the convenient "reboil" button brings the water back to a full boil in just a few minutes.
I also like the three options for dispensing hot water: electrically pumped either via the "dispense" push-button or via the cup pressable switch, or manually via a large pump button on top.
In addition to adding convenience, the two electrically pumped options should also add to the life of this unit. Other units that I owned, that were manual pump only, failed after a year or two because the manual pump gasket wore out. While their manuals warn of this and suggest annual replacement, it was impossible to find a source for replacement gaskets.
This unit, when run electrically, does not use this gasket. So it should last for a very long time.
For those who keep Shabbos, there are additional benefits. The unit is under hechsher and does not need to be toiveled in a mikva. Additionally, the Shabbat switch disables all switches and prevents the unit from entering reboil mode. This allows adding water on Yom Tov, which can not be done with similar hot pots since they switch to reboil mode when even a little cold water is added.

I love my thermo pot. I use it everyday. I used to boil water in the microwave prior to having this pot. It used to take 2-3 mins for each cup of water. Great quality. It saves me so much time, especially in the morning when I need to rush out the door with a hot mug of tea.
To avoid build-up in the pot, I fill it with purified water instead of tap water. I've had it for several months and I haven't had to clean out any deposits yet.

Zojirushi CV-DSC40 VE Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer, Stainless Steel Review

Zojirushi CV-DSC40 VE Hybrid Water Boiler and Warmer, Stainless Steel
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I am a recently disabled adult that cannot get enough of a good cup of tea. So seeing this I thought it would make a nice birthday present for me, and make life a little easier around the kitchen. It performs as it says it will.
It looks bulky but is surprisingly lightweight and easy to handle. The whole unit spins on a lazy-susan device making it east to direct the steam vent away from kitchen surfaces.
You will need a water pitcher of some kind to fill this easily. I have a medium sized one sand simply filly the pitcher twice to fill this device once. The handle on top, removable lid, and notched corner makes emptying and cleaning a breeze.
The temperature features are splendid and accurate, there are three:
205 for noodles/ramen etc, herbal infusions, pu-er, Assam and some other black teas..
195 For Darjeeling or delicate blacks like Illam valley are at this temperature as well, let the water sit a few minutes in the brew pot befor adding tea leaves, if you have a very delicate tea.
175 for green or white teas. A few of the more delicate whites fill the tea pot first, then add the leaves. By filling your teapot dry first, this allows the water to lose 5-10F by just warming the pot. Often enough to make a better flavored tea.
On a given day I can go from pu-er tsocha right from boiling, and set the temp to 195. Make a pot of bold assam in the afternoon when at a full boil, then set the temp to 175. Now, after dinner it is set for making jasmine tea for dessert. All with a minimal energy usage and cost.
I have found it a good idea to refill it only 1-2 times then empty the remains, give it a brush inside with a towel, and then let it completely dry. My scale buildup was reduced quite a bit this way.
For a fully able person this unit -is- a bit of a luxury. A simple electric teapot with temperature control would do you just fine for a fraction of the initial cost. This will make cost up over time by the thermos nature though, just a fyi.
Have a chain tea drinker in your life though or thoughts for limited commercial use (like a small teahouse), or like tea but have a very full life and time schedule? This would make a great gift for you or even a small splurge to treat yourself.UPDATE:
Almost two years later and it not only looks fine but functions just as well as the day I got it. I have to descale it about every 9 months or so. Other than that it is pretty maintenance free. Talk about longer term bang for your buck. If you drink tea or would use boiling water on a daily basis, this is a staple for your kitchen.
Some other uses I found. When making soup, rice, thinning a sauce, or deglazing a pan fill your measuring device from the Zojirushi set in slow pour. I now use water from the boiler and the hot water not only speeds up the process, but some flavors are left alone because the room temp water would have cooled the dish and altered the flavors.
I have also found the steel finish wipes very easily. A friend who bought the white version has some staining that stubbornly persists to this day. All in all if you get one you will not be disappointed.
(small edits made above with input from trial and error over the period I've owned this boiler.)

Sunpentown SP-3015 3-Liter Hot-Water Dispensing Pot Review

Sunpentown SP-3015 3-Liter Hot-Water Dispensing Pot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
You find hot pots like these in Asia, where hot green tea is drunk year-round. We decided to purchase one after a visit to friends in Thailand, and it's been a real favorite around the house.
The unit is lined with stainless steel and holds 3 liters or shy of a gallon of water. We use filtered water, of course. You plug it in on the side. The cord has a magnetic end that fits on the unit and then plugs into the wall socket. The magnetic plug is nice, as you can quickly remove the plug from the unit, rather than tug at a unit full of boiling water. You dispense water into your mug by pressing the top button and water comes out the spout under the top in front. I don't think this is something I'd let children use, as they could pull it down on themselves or spill scalding water on themselves if they don't dispense properly. So, adult supervision and keep it out of reach.
The water heats up in about five to seven minutes, boiling the water then holding it at sub-boiling temperature, perfect for tea or instant or filtered coffee or instant cocoa. If you run down the water, you can check the level on the front where there is a level indicator. After you add more water by lifting up the top, you can hit the Reboil button and heat up the additional water. The unit will not keep temperature correctly if you don't fill it above the minimum, so we tend to keep it at least half full at all times.

Easily serve hot beverages to a crowd with this electric hot-water dispensing pot. Use the hot-water dispenser for making anything from instant coffee, tea, and hot chocolate to soup or noodles. Its user-friendly design includes automatic dispensing at the push of a button, automatic- and manual-reboil buttons, and a 360-degree swivel base for easy access from any direction. Other highlights include micro-computerized dry-boil protection, a safety lock feature to prevent accidental spills and burns, a stainless-steel gall, a water-volume indicator, and a removable top lid for easy cleaning. My old Zojirushi water boiler conked out after 8 years of regular use, so I ordered the CD-WBC30. Features have gotten better in 8 years: the LCD display shows the temperature, and I have 4 thermostat settings instead of two. I used to have to choose between 208 degrees (too hot) and 140 degrees (too cold). I can now also select 195 degrees and 175 degrees. The 175 degree setting is just fine for instant coffee and oatmeal. I've used this boiler for two months without problems.

Perfect for serving hot beverages to a crowd, this electric water boiler and warmer provides up to 101 ounces of hot water for instant coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and more. The unit features a micro-computerized temperature-control system and four keep-warm temperature settings that include 140, 175, 195, and 208 degrees F. Simple one-touch controls supply a reboil button, which reboils water to 212 degrees F; a dispense button; an unlock button that must be pressed before pressing the dispense button; and temperature- and timer-setting buttons. The unit's energy-saving timer function--from 6 to 10 hours--automatically turns on the boiler at a later time to save electricity, and its LCD display shows the actual water temperature at all times, as well as the temperature and timer settings. The dispenser also comes with a cafe-drip dispensing mode, which decreases the amount of water dispensed to 60 percent of the normal setting, making it suitable for brewing cafe drip coffee. Even more, its steam-save function automatically lowers the power just before boiling to reduce the amount of steam emitted from the steam vent. Other thoughtful details include automatic safety shut-off, a wide window water-level gauge that shows how much water remains in the unit, and an interchangeable melody or beep indicator to alert the completion of the boiling process or a low water level. A removable 3-foot power cord, swivel base, carry handle, and easy-to-clean nonstick interior provide added convenience. Sunpentown Hot-Water Dispensing Pot - 3 L Review

Sunpentown Hot-Water Dispensing Pot - 3 L
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I bought my unit at an Asian grocery called "99 Ranch", which had a very good price. The unit had notable defects (sometimes stopped boiling far before the boiling point; sometimes got an air bubble and couldn't keep pumping the water out), and it did NOT have a "lock/unlock" safety button although one was depicted in the manual. When it did work, it was very handy. It stopped working entirely after just two weeks.
I called the phone number printed right on the back on the machine, and the very courteous man on the phone immediately offered to send me a whole new one at their expense, and even pay for the return shipping on this one. The new one arrived promptly, but has already proven to have at least one defect (a loose hinge part).
It seems like you get a lot for your money, but the quality reminds me of General Motors circa 1975. Needs improvement.

We own one for over 6 years now. Love it. Only problem is that because it's mechanical (air pump), that eventually wears out. I think the seal in the pump need replacing. It used to to fill a cup with just one pump, but now takes 10 or more pumps.
Other than that, I love it. I am looking at purchasing a new one, the kind that uses electric pump.

Panasonic NC-EH22PC 2.3 Quart Electric Thermal Hot Pot Review

Panasonic NC-EH22PC 2.3 Quart Electric Thermal Hot Pot
Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
My relatives have an equivalent Zojirushi model. The only difference is this one only has a 6 hour delay whereas the Zojirushi has a longer delay setting. It actually seems like the Panasonic insulates and holds the heat in better than the Zojirushi as it doesn't seem to reheat as often. I'm sure it would save a few pennies in power costs if I could delay it a little longer while I'm away at work all day but it isn't worth almost double the price to get that. That's the only reason for the 4 stars instead of 5. I actually like and prefer the nonstick interior and unless you've got hard water, you don't have to clean it as often as they suggest. It's over a month for mine being used every day and it doesn't look any different than when I bought it. I figure I'll clean it with lemon juice every other month.
Note that you don't have to buy the special cleaning solution. Make your own citric acid with a half cup of lemon juice concentrate mixed in with the water and then run it through the cleaning cycle. If you use fresh lemons make sure you get the pulp out.

Perfect for serving tea to a crowd, this electric thermo pot boils and safely dispenses up to 2-2/7 quarts of hot water through a front-access spout with a simple touch of a button. The unit automatically boils water then switches to a keep-warm setting; it can also be set to start boiling up to six hours later thanks to its energy-saving timer. For tap water high in chlorination, the pot offers a dechlorination mode, which boils the water longer to reduce the taste and amount of chlorine for better tasting beverages. For safety, a magnetic power cord disconnects if necessary to help prevent the unit from tipping over, while a locking lid keeps boiling water from spilling if the pot accidentally does get knocked over. Other thoughtful details include four variable keep-warm settings, an easy-to-read water-level gauge, a low-water warning, and a removable lid, as well as a non-stick coated interior, a cool-touch exterior, and a plastic carrying handle. An instruction manual in English, French, and Chinese comes included. The thermo pot measures approximately 8-1/2 by 9-2/5 by 11-2/7 inches and carries a one-year limited warranty.

We have already had a similar boiler (of the same brand) at home for several years. It is very easy-to-use, quite reliable, and very well-suited for a household whose members love tea and instant coffee. Due to this reason, we decide to buy a second one (whose price is very reasonable at Amazon.com). The only thing you need to pay attention is that you need to remember to fill the boiler with water when the water is about to run out.

Average Reviews:

(More customer reviews)
I switched from coffee to tea a few months ago, purchased this unit and am completely happy with it ... I can't recommend it highly enough. It's well made, ergonomic, well thought out, and a joy to use. The Japanese think of everything. A Japanese friend of mine told me that homes in Japan almost always have one of these units, or one like it. Now that I drink only tea, I can understand why.
The three temperature settings (well, four if you count boiling) are perfect. 208 is good for herbal teas, tissanes, and also the increasingly popular (and wonderful) Rooibos. That's also a good temperature for ramen, oatmeal, etc. 195 is good for black tea and also oolong, and 175 is good for green tea or white tea. Now, you can make gourmet tea properly with no muss and no fuss. Just get yourself some gourmet loose tea, herbal tea, or Rooibos, (all available from Garrett, Adagio, or Teavana), and a convenient brewer, like "IngenuiTea" from Adagio (Teavana also makes a good one that might be slightly better in quality), and you will be good-to-go! Your taste buds will thank you and so will your body. (The health benefits of green tea and oolong are well-known, and also Rooibos has 30-50 times the antioxidants of green tea, and no caffeine). My blood pressure has dropped 20 points with less caffeine (compared to caffeine in coffee, black tea = 20-25%, oolong = 10-15%, green = 5-10%, white = 1%, rooibos and herbal = 0%).
Buy a Zojirushi! You won't be disappointed.

Our college son got this for college - during the summer he brought home this hot water dispenser and my husband and I were hooked on it. My husband makes French Press coffee every morning and I enjoy tea. Having hot water right away was wonderful. We would use it all day and refill it every evening. We loved the convenience of it. So when our son got ready to head back to college we had to have it.
We never had a problem with our sons machine but our new one did quit working after a month. We called and had great customer service take care of the whole thing quickly. We have not had a single issue with this replaced one.
Our son had an older model and there are a few things we miss from that one. There was a laser light of sorts that came out of the spout. There also was a beeping when you hit the unlock button and dispense button. Neither of these is missed if you never had it.
The nice new feature is the dual pump. You can now take the unit away from the plug and use on a table to serve hot water.
This machine is wonderful if you plan to use it everyday or even just during gatherings. You will enjoy its usefulness.

I just received this for Christmas, it's something I've wanted for a while. Ever since my tea kettle died of old age, I've been boiling water for tea with a regular sauce pan and what usually happens is I forget all about it and only remember after it has been boiling for a while. Also, I didn't like the long wait for hot water. I want instant gratification! And now I have it with this Zojirushi dispensing pot. It's perfect since I'm an avid tea drinker, consuming several pots of tea each day.
A long long time ago, I used to have the "air pot" style dispensing pot where you just press on the top and it pumps out water. This one is a much newer design and dispensing is handled electronically. What I like is the "safety" feature which was lacking in the old "air pot" styles. You have to press the "unlock" button before the "dispensing" button which prevents accidentally dispensing hot water. You can set this to keep water at 205°F, 195°F, or 175°F. You can also set it to give you hot water in 7 hours, but this is a feature I really don't need to use. I'm using the 195°F which seems to be a good middle ground for making black (requires hotter water) and green (requires lower temp water) teas. This is also handy for making instant noodles, oatmeal, hot chocolate. Also handy when needing hot water for a dish I'm cooking, or making chicken/beef broth for a dish I'm cooking. This is very convenient ... no more waiting for hot water! (This beats getting a replacement tea kettle because with a tea kettle I still have to wait for it to boil/whistle, and it usually whistles shortly after I've sat down and gotten comfortable.) This pot will automatically reboil when it feels the temp has dropped too much. The water level gauge is easy to read, the lid lifts up easily for refilling (also removes easily to make pouring water out and cleaning a cinch). Another nice little detail is a removable power cord. It makes me feel a bit "safer" being able to remove this before cleaning out the pot in the sink.
I am confident that this will last me a long time. My in-laws also have a Zojirushi water dispensing pot and it has never failed on them. And I know people who have other Zojirushi products and have had no problems with them. So I feel comfortable with this brand, and I may look into getting one of their rice cookers.
Oh, I have to mention one more nicety of this dispensing pot. The base will swivel around (think lazy suzan style), making it easy to rotate it without scratching your kitchen counter top.
The only thing I need to be careful about is where to put the dispensing pot since there is a steam vent on the top. I don't put it directly beneath any kitchen cabinets, just in case the steam might damage the cabinet over time.
ADDED 11/19/05:
I just wanted to mention that I have had this for 2 years and it is still working as well as it did when I first got it. I have used this pot everyday for the past 2 years. I refill it at least once a day in the summer, 2-4 times a day in the winter. I use it mainly for making tea (big tea drinkers in this house) and cooking. It's easy to clean. No staining on the inside; of course this would depend on your local water quality. Not bad at all considering the use I get out of this. I still highly recommend this pot.
I have a baby now. I have found this dispensing pot handy for quickly warming up bottles from the fridge... instant hot water to immerse bottle in. My screaming baby doesn't have to wait long for her milk. Perfect! The pot has also been useful when mixing cereal... mix cereal with some cold water, then a splash of the hot water to bring it up to a nice warm temp for her.
